About Us

Horace Elementary School was built in 1983. It received its first addition in 2003, its second addition in 2016 as part of the 2015 bond referendum, and yet another addition in 2021 as part of the 2018 bond referendum. The building occupies an 8-acre site in western Horace and currently houses 19 classrooms.
Horace Elementary School is home to the Horace Hornets. It is named after the city it serves: Horace. The school belongs to the Hawk feeder system; students move on to Heritage Middle School and Horace High School.
The building’s principals have included: Louise Dardis (1983 – 1987), Jerry Barnum (1987 – 2014), Jason Markusen (2014 – 2015), Carol Zent (2015 – 2024), and Ericka Urness (2024 - present).
